[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Two local dignitaries with a tremendous breadth of experience with the old Middlebury Town Office building talk about its rich history at this pivotal moment, as it awaits demolition. Howard describes attending school in the structure, relating what it was like returning after the devastating fire that ravaged the upper story in 1954. Beth talks about her many years of service to the Town spent in the building and the huge array of organizations that have been housed within its red brick walls – including the Police Department, consigned to the dank basement. A fascinating, bitter-sweet glimpse into this municipal landmark that has for so long stood at the center of the Middlebury community.
