Middlebury Five-O: Ruth Hardy

[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end] The captivating new Executive Director of Emerge Vermont talks about her role in the organization, and its core mission to encourage, support and train Democratic women to run for government office on every level, from the local to the federal. Ruth speaks with poise, humor and vigor about the ways in which women are deterred from political participation both culturally and structurally, and how critical it is to the flourishing of our democracy and our society that they be drawn in. The conversation veers headlong into feminism, the shortcomings of androcentric governance, and the inspiring example of Madeleine Kunin – the Chair of the Board of Emerge Vermont, the former Governor of the State, and, according to Ruth, a consummate lady. Ruth touches upon her role as Chair of the Mary Hogan (ID4) School Board and deftly explains the upcoming merger. An absorbing show, swimming with wisdom, jocularity and, above all, glamour.
